Adine and Lateef

Adine breathed softly beside him and he caught the tear that trickled down the side of her muzzle. Her sadness combined with his own and Lateef felt himself sinking again. But he needed to take care of his family, he couldn't ask Adine to keep this up. His mother - he scowled. He was head of the cave now, however much he disliked it.
"Adine?"
"Yes my dear?"
"Teach me how to fight." He looked up at her to meet her gaze. She took him in for a moment before nodding quietly.
